A worked example
1 ETH = 1,000,000,000 gwei = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 wei. An input of 0.000000000000000001 ETH converts to exactly 1 wei.
Assumptions & limitations
This is a unit converter. It does not query a wallet, exchange rate, network balance, or token contract. Tokens may use different decimal scales. Inputs with fractions of a wei are rejected.
Common questions
Why use integer arithmetic?+
Wei amounts can exceed the exact integer range of ordinary JavaScript numbers. BigInt arithmetic preserves each wei.
Is gwei a different asset?+
No. Wei and gwei are denominations of ETH, like smaller units of the same quantity.
Can I convert a token with six decimals?+
Not with this ETH-specific tool. Check that token’s documented decimal scale first.
