Ethereum Gas Fee Calculator

Estimate an Ethereum execution fee from gas used, base fee, priority fee, and max fee per gas.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the estimated gas used for the transaction. The default 21,000 is an example, not a universal gas limit.
  2. Enter the base fee, requested priority fee, and maximum fee per gas in gwei. These are manual inputs, not live network data.
  3. Calculate the effective gas price, estimated ETH fee, and the cap for the entered gas quantity.

A worked example

With 21,000 gas, a 20 gwei base fee, a 2 gwei priority fee, and a 30 gwei maximum, the effective gas price is 22 gwei. The execution fee is 0.000462 ETH.

Assumptions & limitations

Formula: gas used × min(max fee, base fee + priority fee). The estimate excludes blob fees, L2 data fees, token value, and fiat conversion. Actual gas used and the inclusion-time base fee can differ. A max fee below the base fee is not an includable scenario.

Common questions

Is max fee the amount I always pay?+

No. It is a per-gas cap. Under the assumptions here, the effective price may be lower.

Is 21,000 gas correct for a swap?+

No. Contract execution can use much more gas. Use an estimate for the actual transaction.

Does this work for every L2?+

No. L2 fee models may include additional components that this Ethereum execution-fee example excludes.
